my minimalist world

heavy sarcasm.
actually, in my own way, i am a minimalist.
but i have a lot of shit.

we live in a tiny, tiny 1BR/1BA apartment. here are a few shots i took today...

the kitchen - grains, tea, and things grown underground

the chick and the lion
vintage daniel green shoes, mr. t, doll baby, phone cord purse, samsonite

the cats, my favorite lamp, monkey from costa rica, bowling pins, bottles, and assorted shoes and other oldies

my new bookshelf, my grandma, art, books, a message

finally photo shoot

i finally got to do another photoshoot today.

two lovely models, both seniors at VU, whom I've worked with before, came and worked it out for... damn near five hours. bless them.

a friend of mine who is getting more and more into photography asked if he could take the pics. um, yes? please.

i did the detail shots, and some styling, although i thought they wore size 8 shoes, and they both wear a 10.. so that part of my world needs work, but we shot SEVENTY-FIVE pieces! amazing.

it felt sooo good to get shit done. so, so good.

here are a few of my favorites.

a few new listings

just a few new items to get the vintage listing, shop lovin' muscles moving again -
have some great things in store for the late winter and spring. i promise (myself and anyone else who is reading.. I PROMISE!)

enjoying the last day of my four-day weekend. rearranged my bedroom for better flow, and made an amazing brunch of farm eggs (i'm spoiled, they are delivered to my school twice a month) in a peppered goat cheese omelet with peppers, benton's bacon, toast and sprouts on top.

i just need a coffee to make it complete, but since I'm going on 4 hours of sleep right now, and it's already almost 2.. probably not a good idea.

usually my hunting involves my gps, some coffee, and a list of estate sales, garage sales, or thrift stores that i want to get to.

yesterday, I did a different kind of hunting... graffiti hunting.
I am currently (and have been for about a year) obsessed with hunting graffiti by the elusive READ MORE BOOKS .  it started with a huge roller piece on the side of my favorite building in nashville,  the Marathon Village home of Corsair Artisan Distillery (former home of Yazoo Brewing).

A few months ago, we found this one -

and also this one -

then, when I was in New Orleans in November, I saw three that I was unable to get pics of.. but right as we were heading out of town...

so, recently this dude (dudes? I don't pretend to have a clue who/how many or really anything else about graffiti at all) is getting a lot more notice.. including a 10-page feature in JUXTAPOZ magazine.

There is a book (no, rilly?!) and a zine (that too?!) Which I bought myself for Christmas.

I didn't find the droids I was looking for, but I did find some cool places in my city I didn't know existed.. and then had a beverage where it all began.

happy new year.
mine has not started off as well as i had hoped, but i don't look at that as a forecast for the next 364 days.

i have plans.. dreams.. visions..
i still don't blog much.. i think it's because my computer is so old, and just loading pics and making things look good is so time-consuming. but i want to do better.

so, for fun..

a pair of boots i find fascinating -

a recycled leather necklace -

and from the sabrosa shop - vintage suede fringe bib -

Happy New Year! Hope it treats you right, and vice versa.

random cold-weather blog

i have been hitting the thrift stores nearly every day recently... and coming out with pieces of my fall and winter wardrobe. and really, a LOT of lounging pieces...

*huge camel cable knit cashmere sweater (has a hole that didn't show up till I washed it, so it's a lounge piece... I have it on now)
*red v-neck cashmere sweater (vintage and men's)
*pink ann taylor cashmere lounge pants (capri length and awesome... again some holes, but my house doesn't care)
*blue eileen fisher merino wool ribbed cardigan - so warm, cozy and just stylish enough
*yellow Neiman Marcus snake skin pumps
*2 pairs of 60's wool mittens
*navy and red adidas track pants (vintage)
*kiddie legwarmers to wear as armwarmers
*a wrap lounge dress that I was *sure* was 40's, but it's very hidden tag tells me 70's! I can't WAIT to wear this next spring.
*ridiculous acidwash jeans that I may or may not ever get the chance to wear. :)
*cream colored mohair swing coat with navy trim collar and pockets (vintage)
* pumpkin colored a-line dress - need some full-length leggings - like REALLY FULL LENGTH for the long-legged and TOTALLY OPAQUE. (where can i find these?!)

and i know there's more... but i'm feeling kinda over-shopped right now.. (but the most expensive was the mohair at $15.00 and most were $4.99 or less.. :)

*a pair of corduroy trousers
*some perfect-fitting twill pants
*black knee-high low-heeled boots
*more knee socks
*a warm scarf or two
*one or two new tops
*the aforementioned leggings - BLACK and maybe NAVY
*some royal blue tights from

birthday weekend....

I have not blogged in almost 8 months... I don't know why. It's not like I have nothing to say. :) I ALWAYS have something to say... clothes to share, links to link.

I think I am going to blog more. Small ones. To keep me focused.

Here's my 8-month update:

* Hula Hooped the Music City Marathon in April. Was amazing.. one of the best things I've ever done.
* Won Teacher of the Year at my school. I was embarrassed and humbled and got $50 ;)
* Road-tripped all summer... seeing old friends, and hitting as many thrift shops as I could get to! - Bonnaroo, Oxford, MS, Shreveport, LA, Dallas and Austin, TX, Memphis, TN, Atlanta, GA.
* Moved into a studio!! That is a recent occurrence!! It's in East Nashville, with all the cool kids, and so far, I LOOOOVE it.. as does my apartment, which was way overcrowded.
* I am taking a photo class at Watkins. yay, me!

Tomorrow is my birthday. I will celebrate 33 years on the planet. I will wear a pretty dress and have brunch in Germantown with my family and my boy. I will blog more.
